The Japan Blue Chatter is made from a beautiful nep denim fabric woven by the Japanese fabric mill, Showa Co., Japan. This particular fabric has a 3x1 twill weave construction, is dyed in indigo and is especially unique due to its silk / cotton composition as well as the characteristic nep yarns that pops out of the surface of the fabric.
Silk fibres possesses one of the strongest tensile strengths of any natural fibres in the world and has in this particular case been added to the warp yarns. This combined with a long stable cotton fibre makes it a extremely strong denim fabric. In addition to this the fabric has been made with a technique called loom chatter. This technique is employed during the weaving process to help make the fabric more textured. In this particular case the shuttle looms are set at a low speed, making the loom literally shake while they weave. Leaving a "snowy" looking surface, that is actually broken cotton fibers caused by the loom agitating the fibers during the weaving process.
